If you fancy a shot at ruling a tropical race, then you should check out Totem Tribe. It's a clean, if a little old-school, RTS that would be a respectable $25 purchase from a store.
Because it is a clean and tasteful depiction of warlike races, this is an RTS that a parent could easily play with their kids without any fear of causing nightmares.
Lead your islanders to victory on one island and you progress to the next. Each place requires you build warriors and workers, buildings, gather resources and fight off bad guys.
As with most strategy games, you have to earn your right to build certain structures, unlocking each by completing early missions.
Whether you like it or not, you will also be doing a bit of hidden object seeking here. Some essential elements to your progress are scattered around the island, plus bonus gems.
Because there's limited requirement to gather resources, this feels like an adventure game crossed with real-time strategy. It's a solid, entertaining little game and well worth a download of the 1hr FREE trial from Big Fish Games.
