At least the Dream Voyagers fulfills its titular promise; it sure put me to sleep pretty quickly! The storyline, intriguing at first (aren't they all?) was disappointingly thin, and the game was just one HO scene, often repeated, after another. I'm sorry, but it felt like homework.
The game introduces kids with a gift: they can enter other people's dreams and manipulate the events.
A rash of nightmares plagues Slumberton and its inhabitants. You must go and figure out what is at the root of it. Each of the different characters is unlocked as you find what 'theme' is haunting them (eg. creepy crawlies, poison, ghosts and such).
The hidden objects were quite difficult to find. You basically had to use the hints in some. It's one of those games where the 'ice cream' is the totally wrong color and looks like about ten other objects, so it can be tricky. This may appeal to veterans who want a real challenge.
The hints are presented in an original way; Nightlight, which darkens the screen and lights up ALL of the remaining objects is a bit too easy, and the Short Dream hint, which shows a speeding trail of light that points to three objects.
The lack of mini-games and plot and character development make this hidden object adventure repetitive and tiresome. You find yourself entering a portal only to be once again in a room you'd thought you'd cleared, and have to sometimes find the same objects, all within an unchangeable time limit.
As proven constantly in Hollywood, a poor script can't make a movie good no matter the production value. The Dream Voyagers feels like it was put together in a rush. None of the elements in it are really good enough to make this game a keeper. Sweet dreams!
