If you enjoy watching Law & Order or CSI, then The Lighthouse Mystery will appeal. It feels (almost) like a HOG for grownups, though it lacks the razor edge to the content that would have made it an adult hit.

Fresh from Strange Cases: The Tarot Card Mystery, you can get your teeth into The Lighthouse Mystery. Your partner is apparently killed at his apartment. Searching his rooms for clues leads you in many unexpected directions, just like you'd figure a mystery game should.

There is plenty to search for, starting with lighthouse-backed cards. Each contains a list of items to search, sometimes in written form and others in silhouette shapes of objects in the location. Find all the items on the card to "win" a useful object that you'll need to progress somewhere in the current location.

Locations in The Lighthouse Mystery consist of several scenes. You have to clear them all of clues and useful objects to further the case and get closer to solving the crime.

The graphics are awesome, detailed and realistic, while the sound is nicely done, with great voice acting in the cutscenes. For me, the only element lacking in this game is the content being a bit toned-down to make it suitable for teens; I'd like to see casual games truly aimed just for the adult audience. Then we'd see excellent writing and some real thrills.
