If you are left feeling a little unsatisfied by Match 3 games, or just feel the traditional combat in most RPGs is not really challenging, then Puzzle Quest is going to be a total eye-opener! It's brilliant in both concept and execution and we thoroughly recommend it to any fans of Match 3 or RPG.
Just like RPGs, you have characters, quests, a huge map to roam around, monsters to bash and treasure to gather.
But unlike lesser RPGs, when you do get into a fight, far from mashing a few buttons on a joypad and hoping for the best, you're going to have to use your BRAIN and beat the opponent strategically.
Match 3, spells and other powers -- much like Yugioh or similar trading card games -- will be needed to overcome opponents and take their treasure. The computer AI is fierce: you won't find too many pushovers, even in the early stages!
During battle, you can match health, adding to your current hit points, gold, to spend if you survive the battle, or skulls, to damage the bad guys. Fun!
Completing quests awards you XP which can be used to level up just like "grown up" RPGs. There are lots of character classes to choose from, making this game even better value with the possibility of replaying as different classes.
Seriously... $6.99 for THIS?! Puzzle Quest is AMAZING value and you should definitely not delay -- download the FREE 1hr trial and prepare to be seriously impressed. If you only play one Match 3 game in your life, it should be this.
