With an unusual career upgrade system and some very beautiful scenes, Party Down may not win any awards for original gameplay, but it does have some new twists on the time management genre.

In Party Down, you play a hostess with ambition who wants to rise through the ranks by hosting parties for the rich and famous. You use their influence to advance your career.

Your tasks are varied, but all involve keeping guests happy. Serve food and drinks, clear away, move them to the dance floor or to conversations.

Here's the most interesting part. If your "star rating" is beneath them, stars refuse to deal with you. But build up your skills and you can talk to higher and higher-grade stars and advance yourself.

The usual time management stresses are here. You have staff members, but still must do most things yourself. It's busy, but you will wish you could clip somebody's ear for not having any initiative.
