Island Realms, far from being a vacation in the sun, is a challenging, yet quirky tycoon game. The length is good and it has lots of substance to it.
This isn't like those TV shows where people want to get OFF or stay ON the island; here you want to get to the next island. This requires a lot of strategy, food, wood and other resources.
In the beginning levels the game runs in the tycoon-style. You have to assign men to produce the goods to prepare for your wagon to exit the island. You'll have to efficiently construct factories, place them near roads and place your workers in the proper strategic positions.
As an obstacle to this, enemies will try to put a stop your efforts by stealing food and ruining your roads. You can deal with them, although it takes time, but they'll leave eventually.
Island Realms is a really enjoyable game that will please fans of both tycoon and time management games. The story isn't much, but the journey will get you on board.
