My first instinct was that I was not going to like this game, but I was wrong. The first few levels are really too easy, but the game quickly gets more challenging and is quite varied and lots of fun.
You are a wanna-be celebrity blogger who needs to catch your big break and win a competition by uncovering the secrets and scandals of the stars. You attend Hollywood-style events and follow the leads informants give you.
The hidden object part of this game has been compared to Where's Waldo?, but I've never played that. You must pick out certain characters from a crowded scene, which get progressively more crowded and difficult. Faces begin to look alike, and postures are repeated. You need to pick out a person from a close-up, a description of them, a silhouette… Sometimes they're hidden behind something, or ride a bus that moves off the screen every few seconds.
I'm not really into all the blogging, texting, gossiping shtick. I find it dull and superficial, but in this game it's okay. It's a bit cheesy, but allows for lots of fun games, like picking out what cosmetic surgery people have had done.
The puzzles and mini-games in Gotcha - Celebrity Secrets are really cute and quite varied. This game is good for kids over 8 or so, but I might not want to reinforce that more 'light-minded' part of our culture.
