Eden's Quest - The Hunt for Akua

Okay, here's the weird thing about Eden's Quest - The Hunt for Akua... it's labeled an HOG, but there's only a tiny amount of searching for hidden coins. And I have to admit, I was relieved that this was the case. This game was all about great brain-teasing puzzles, based on math and logic. All served up in a charming island style.

You are Eden Hunt, a beautiful and intrepid explorer who's been invited to take part in a treasure hunt to find a priceless statue (our buddy Akua). But, the way is 'riddled' with obstacles; other competitors, challenging puzzles, and to top it all off, something is causing a number of strange disappearances.

It may sound stressful, but the beautiful graphics literally sweep you off your feet, and the storyline and characters are intriguing. The actual objects that are hidden in each location are little silver coins that sparkle once in a while, and you can pick them out that way. The fun lies in the brainteasers, for which you can use the silver coins to purchase hints.

You can also play a board game with the good captain to try and win money if your funds are low.

In each scene there are totems that give you puzzles; you must solve them to move onto the next scene. If you get stuck on a riddle, the hints get progressively more informative to help you solve it.

There's no point giving a sampling of the wonderful puzzles you'll come across in Eden's Quest - The Hunt for Akua. You have to try it for yourself. It's a real pleasure to come across a game that kind of defies labeling. It is refreshing and offers a good challenge in a great new package.
