Billed as a kind of spooky HOG mystery adventure hybrid, Cherai ends up being a very competent HOG with confusing messages. Your spiritual guide, a kind of ghost, keeps telling you how important all the items you're finding are to your mission: herbs, gems, parchments... but you'll end up wondering what, exactly, you're supposed to be doing. Isn't this a rescue mission?
Yes, it is, and while searching for your missing relative, you'll be called upon to find hundreds of items in dozens of locations. Some of the items are used to interact with the environment to make extra progress.
These are seldom tricky to figure out, as the ghost normally tells you anything that's not obvious ("A lamp is normally placed on this kind of temple", or similar). Apart from the usual frustrations of finding hidden objects, this makes the game rather easy. Get this game on a FREE 1hr trial now!
Still, if this is pitched at teenagers or people who don't like to struggle with completing games, then that's fine. Teenagers may also find it spooky, though I thought it was a little low on the creepiness.
