Cake Mania Main Street

To me, the Cake Mania games are a little flawed. They don't offer the charm of, say, the Diner Dash franchise; they are slanted heavily towards girls (especially the later games in the series); the gameplay is just not as compelling as some other time management-style arcade games.

Yet Cake Mania Main Street has a lot more meat on its bones and has the potential to lift the series to better places.

A run-down town is the setting for a game which is about much more than cakes: you can open a flower store, burger bar or sushi restaurant as well as the obligatory bakery.

Play starts with the good ol' cake store. Jill, who may very well wish she had become a nurse instead, is faced with the same old customer impatience and complicated cake orders as in the other games.

You have choices to make when the cash has been earned. Do you upgrade the bakery, or use the money to open a different store in another part of town? Gameplay is different enough from store to store to make it a pleasant break from the grind of bake and ice, ice and bake.

Cash can also be used to buy tourist attractions, which improves the overall town ambience and brings more customers to your shops.

With the added depth of choices and shop types, Cake Mania Main Street is a welcome departure and one which even people like me, not in love with the series, can appreciate. True fans of Jill will LOVE it! Why not take the 1hr trial now and see for yourself?
