If you're new to the World Mosaics franchise, you're in good company, because I am too. In a nutshell, it's a kind of simplified Sudoku-style puzzle that is an excellent test of your powers of reasoning and logic and would make a great math game for kids aged 8+.

Each of the puzzles is linked to an image from a popular fairytale. As you solve each game, another page from the story is turned, until you reveal all of the pages and the story ends. Then you move onto the next one in the book.

The puzzles are a grid. Some of the squares will be golden tiles and the others will be black Xs. It's your job to solve them from the numerical clues provided.

Along the sides of the grid are numbers. Two or more numbers mean there are Xs between multiple batches of golden tiles. Left-click to add a golden tile and right-click to add an X.

Just like Sudoku, as you fill in tiles successfully, you eliminate possibilities on other rows of the grid, until eventually you place all the golden tiles correctly and the image is revealed.

Apart from very average graphics, World Mosaics 3: Fairy Tales is an excellent game. It's especially suited for people who enjoy math puzzles, and might be a good purchase for children who need a little extra help in that department.
